Che suerte

Typing like the wind at the moment, coz I´m in an internet cafe in Tarragona, Spain with 15 minutes left before I´m cut off and I´d still like to down load the photos from my friend Ange´s new baby.

5 days into a half term break in the south east of Spain and remembering how much I love travelling here. We flew into Alicante airport- you know one of those airports in the middle of nowhere that Ryan Air fly in to pretending to be the local one. Anyways, didn´t matter to us as we were headed for Elche in yet another one of Kieran´s quests for World Heritage Sites. Lovely little place too. Spent a couple of nights there, including Valentine´s day, which we normally spend at home (or at International Evening if very unlucky) and really enjoyed pottering about among all the Palm trees. The Valentine menu was a funny venture- rather than have it in the very romanticaly lit main restaurant, for some unknown reason we were all put upstairs in the very white and bright function room. Still, nice food so, I no complain.

then on to Javea to catch up with the lovely Elena in her little slice of paradise on earth. We packed a lot in in less than 24 hours; windmills, old towns, walks, drinks, and ofcourse, eating and drinking.

From the we headed up the coast to Valencia, which Kieran boldly claims as among one of his top 10 European cities- and I can see why, even if I can´t concede-great museums, (often free) including the fantastic Ciudad las Sciences & Artes, beautiful old architeture, friendly & helpful people, good transport, and yet again, fabulous food.

And so now we´ve arrived in Tarragona. While Kieran does a training run for his marathon in Geneva (no rest for the wickedly sporty) I sit here drinking a cafe con leche and enjoying a spot of surfing.

From here we´ll head up to Barcelona for a couple of nights and catch up with K´s family there. It´s exactly 7 years ago that I first came to Spain- it was my first trip when I first moved to London and I´m keen to see how La Sagrada Familia has grown!!
