hours on a bus

Entered a new country for me today-Laos. And they nearly didn't let me in. You see my Irish passport has no free pages (pesky border guards always stamp on fresh pages) so I thought I'd go in on my Aussie passport and they weren't having that as they don't recognise 2 passports and need to put the Laos visa in the same passport as the Vietnamese exit stamps. In the end they had to add some Laos looking extra pages ($5 extra) and I had to fill in the forms again in triplicate. Took about 30 mins from woah to go. Meanwhile the bus driver is getting very irate and I had visions of beeing stranded in that in between border place.*

Anyway, I'm in now- but will i be able to leave?

The bus ride was a long one too- we got on at Hue at 8 and arrived here in Savanaket at 4.30. Originally we'd planned to head up into Laos a bit to shorten the trip to Vientiane tomorrow but it's nice here and we're staying put- at least for one night.

And the weather is great- a tropical 30 degrees with blue sky and white fluffy clouds and you can see stars!! Glad to be out of the smog and on our way to meet Mezza!

* you know, a bit like that Tom Hanks movie when he's stuck in the airport, but with less facilities
