Where to go in the Feb half term, when you want; sunshine, good food, World Heritage sites, a new country for the count and all for a reasonable price....

Malta, ofcourse

Just back from 5 days there and it was great. I'll let the pictures do the talking (well they were taken with a mobile phone), but suffice to say I'd highly recommend Malta if you are looking for all of the above and more.

One of the many carnival floats taking part in the dancing competitions during the week. It's part of the festivities held just prior to Lent. (A period of feasting before the fasting... Malta is still 99% Catholic). This was my favourite theme i.e school, even if they did use the shameful English Eurovision song contest entry from 2006 as their signature tune. A special mention must go to 2 of the older girls who danced the whole routine with lighted cigarettes hanging from their lips) The beautiful Spinola Bay. This remarkable sight was our view from the hotel. (Not our room, more the breakfast cafe area)

It was hard to leave Malta and come back to the grey gloom that is London at the moment!
