50 things TO miss about London

* walking into town past buckingham palace & through the parks
* walking home from town on the Southbank & seeing it lit up with blue lights and that big London Eye thing or
* catching the 24 bus home from town and marvelling every time at Big Ben & House of Parliament
* being annoyed at having to wait 4 mins for the next tube
* De Hems pub
* pub life style in general
* watching the hanging baskets on the street spring out of nowhere in spring
* free museums
* some of the finest teachers I've ever worked with doing more than just coping at a pretty challenging school
* Friday "night" Coronas at the Colonies with aforementioned teachers where no one is driving and everyone is drinking and you find out how the school really runs
* brilliant restaurants; and some just tired and trusted faves like Tokyo Diner
* the variety of musicals available all year round!
* everyone coming to London to perform
* not having to worry about a car
* long, long light summer nights
* working with people from so many different parts of the world
* Radio 4
* being so close to Europe you can go there, relatively cheaply, for a weekend
* being close to the heart of the Eurovision & being able to host Eurovision parties while the show is on
* the little back garden that I've worked so hard on
* getting a thrill from place names from your childhood games; Fleet St, Baker St, Mayfair, Trafalgar Square, Old Kent Road, the Strand
* excellent garden weather- summers of rain & sun!
* waking up in the city that never sleeps. Beneath the neighbour who doesn't seem to either (i mean beneath his flat, of course)
* living in a history book
* timeout guide to London
* getting glimpses of movie stars on the red carpet when you accidentally walk in on a premiere in Leicester Sq
* actually seeing famous people on the street (I know this must happen every day, I just don't recognise them) like Craig David on the Kings Road (met him on a Monday)
* Pret a Manger's duck wrap & Christmas Lunch sandwich (which I'd eat every day during the lead up to Christmas if I could)
* excellent potatoes, sausages, corn, tomatoes & strawberries when in season (especially from our local farmer's market)
