House Hunting

With the excitement of Eurovision slowly ebbing away K & I can now finally turn our full attention to house hunting. Visions of our UK savings helping us in the search for an Aussie home have been cruelly dashed on the rocks that is the buoyant Australian dollar, the competitive housing market & the lack of permanent jobs for the both of us.

Darn it.

The good news is that K has now come off probation (what did he do, I hear you ask) and, according to the mortgage broker, this means banks may start to view us as serious home loan contenders. So, we've been out to look for houses this weekend. And even watched an auction. Those things are scary. A house, we could have been in the running for a couple of weeks in the future, had so much bidding interest in it that it finally went for $135, 000 more than the original figure listed. I know these figures are not always the most reliable, but still?!! How can anyone buy a home in this climate?
