Remember back in the day, teachers wrote your report by hand and it would be one line long (and yet say a lot) and the whole report would be one page of
"She has a problem with problems"
"Too much chat"
"Is a pleasure to teach"
"Giggly"
Well, let me tell you, times have changed. It's all high tech now.
Reports are typed into a central database, which is then merged, and as a teacher you can see the other reports you wrote last time & the grades you gave them. And you can type loads of loaded comments(if you so desire), although none of it is supposed to be subjective (if he doesn't hand in his homework he will fail this subject) or "meaningless" (he is a pleasure to teach) but it's suppose to describe what they've achieved (using level descriptors & other jargon) and set 'SMART' targets (he must ensure his screen is minimised at the start of each lesson).
What a shame. They've taken all the 'joy' out of writing a report.
I still sneak in the odd 'he is a pleasure to teach' though. Because occasionally they are. Shhh, don't tell anyone.
