Today we had our first Japanese language session. Kieran is learning Japanese under my strict tutelage and with the help of Berlitz's Japanese in 30 Days in preparation for our trip to Japan in July.
Lesson 1 predominantly focussed on pronunciation. Between the high-pitched voice on the Berlitz CD and my choice snippets of advice such as "don't worry about your pronunciation because when Japanese people see you they will think you are speaking English anyways" Kieran is well on his way to building solid language learning foundations. He is a very conscientious student, often asking pertinent questions and completely engaged in his studies. I wish more of my students were like him.
I feel like I'm writing his school report.
And all of this so we can go hang with Joe in Japan (as seen in the above photo, exercising......his right to drink in public places by the looks of things)
