Went to see Amy, Amy, Amy Winehouse the other night. And she was great. And her band were incredible.
It amazes me to think of all the gigs I've ever been to (or indeed played at) in my life, no artist has ever cancelled. (as far as i remember, and there's been a few). Amy, on the other hand, has cancelled this gig twice. And yet, strangely, it doesn't annoy me. And it didn't detract from the gig in any way. Having heard the all-night-drinking-binges-then-cancelling-gigs rumours there's a part of me that feels something in between pity and respect. Something that I can't quite put my finger on. She's only 24.
Also at Amy's gig was Noel Gallagher, sitting up in the Gods. I noticed he didn't clap after her songs, and he left before the encore...
