So, the shippers have been and gone- (not a euphemism) with enough time for me to high tail it down to the Mongolian embassy and pick up Mongolian-visa-filled passports.
I wonder what things we've accidentally shipped that we shouldn't have and what things we should have shipped that we've forgotten about? Nothing too important like passports, mobile phones and wallets I hope. On the shipper's website they have a fun* game where you go through the cartoon 'house' and guesstimate how many boxes you need. It worked out about 28. Today they filled 28 boxes and one packet (Kieran's map of the world & a large umbrella). Perhaps I should take up packing professionally. Or maybe just the guessing bit. I can go around to people's houses and say, "hmmm...yup, you'll need about 23 boxes and one packet for that poster of Audrey Hepburn". or things like that.
Now trying to work up some energy to start the "professional" clean of the apartment.
We're having real difficulty getting rid of furniture too. I've tried loads of charity shops/furniture donation places and no one is really interested. There's none of our friends that are interested in any of the furniture. You see, this is what I miss about Oz, there, you could have a big sale in the front of your garden, or you'd know a friend of a friend who might be interested in taking things off your hands. You'd at least have a car or know someone with a Ute who could help you shift stuff and you'd have brothers & stuff to help too. Here we have none of that!
I have put an ad on the Gumtree saying people can have the furniture for free if they can come and pick it up! Let's see how that goes.
A mover's job is never done. Well, until they move of course.
*you can tell this moving malarkey is all-consuming
