the Great Chinese Visa Getting Debarcle Part 2

I take it all back about the Chinese visa thing.

I go (to the right place, thank you very much) on Thursday to pick it up. Walk straight through, pick up the deli-style number. Again, thank you. Get called up immediately. Oh happy day. Pay my fee (cheaper if you're on the Irish passport than the British by a tenner!! Wayhay!! Being Irish has saved me over £90 over the visa years)

So far, all going well.

Speak too soon.

Man (with no personality) behind counter can't find my passport on the trolley of visa'ed passports. Then excitable lady (with too much personality) comes over to help and can't locate it either. All kinds of thoughts are going through my head about why I have been denied the visa; "did my passport photo have a trace of a smile on it", "did I put 03/03/2009 as my DOB?". Again. Am also wondering if I can get my money back. Or at least a receipt.

Turns out the mistake was theirs and visa was still over in the embassy (I know exactly where that is!) so they had to get a courier to bring it over.

Passport is safe and sound in my possession. I hope the next blog will be- "Mongolian visa application. That was easy".
