Ancient mosaics on the island of Delos, a reminder of its former glory.
The infamous windmills of Mykonos...Well, after Athens we had another early start- the ferry to Mykonos. From what we'd heard about Mykonos being a big party place we expected it to be a bit more hedonistic a vibe than it was! Maybe again, it was the time of year (just prior to the peak season) but Mykonos was relaxed, friendly, beautiful and white!
We took a day trip from Mykonos to the Unesco World Heritage site of Delos. This is a small island near Mykonos famed as the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. In its glory days it was one of the most important religious and commercial centres but nowadays it's uninhabitated save for the lizards darting in and out of ancient ruins. As a result it's a very atmospheric place to wander around.
