All over for another year

Congrats to Marija ŠERIFOVIĆ from Serbia, a beautiful song (Molitva), sung well.
Once again a little bit of everyone voting for their neighbours.

Hard luck Ireland who came LAST!! It is a problem when you a) have a terrible song b) sing it badly and c) have no neighbours other than the UK

So, I know I say this every year but anyone up for Belgrade next year? I'll look into how we can get tickets...

Yeah, the Irish lass did seem a little bit hesitant and off-key at the beginning ... a bit like a rabbit in the headlights ... and that hand-waving was just a bit too excruciatingly naif for me...then again, the lyrics did contain the word "Latvia" ... and 'twas interesting to note the strong pro-Latvian and Lithuanian vote coming from the Emerald Isle, ceart go leor. But the Balkans' answer to Grange Hill won the day. Even a Latvian group with a French-sounding name singing Italian wasn't enough to clinch it. And I love the hoohah about bloc-voting, with protests made in Westminster....Western Europeans are such sore losers....try losing out for fifty years - or, as in the case of the Lats (and any Lat will tell you this as often as you don't want to hear it)- for 700!

Arnie, I personally think the Latvians were robbed. It was a great song, maybe people are anti-Italian, seeing as though the Italians are so anti-Eurovision...? I'd like to think the 10 points from Ireland for Latvia proves the Irish like a bit of Italian opera (so classy) but I suspect it has more to do with the Balkan diaspora!

And also, I thought the point was Western Europe were trying to lose, they certainly have been pick the worst songs lately. Paying your way might get you into the final but doesn't mean any points (As Gemini AKA nul points can testify) from a couple of years back.

Oh I could discuss Eurovision all year...:)
