Last day of school

My boys left school yesterday.

I'd been the form tutor for these students ever since they arrived in Year 7 and now they are off on study leave, set to do their exams. It's a weird feeling, I don't think it's hit me yet. Probably because it all seemed to happen so fast. It's our schools policy NOT to tell the students (or staff) when the final break up day is. This avoids all the eggs & flour & water thrown about/at the school/staff.

So, basically period 4 they make an announcement for all the boys to go around to the chapel (off campus), we have a fairly low key farewell with sandwiches & informal speeches, the school gates are locked and they are not allowed back on to the premises! It always comes as a bit of a brutal shock (especially to the nice kids who like being at school)! A bit like a bird throwing her chicks out of the nest so they have to learn to fly, I guess.

Still, it has been such great fun watching these boys (or should I now say, young men) grow up and I hope they all go on to have rewarding, fun-filled lives.
